And this time I can say that Google has made more of an effort to present its training in our language, because these courses look very good. I explain how the platform is now structured and why it is easier than ever to obtain your certificates.
Google Ads: easier than ever with Skillshop
Google certificates in advertising have always been a “mandatory” requirement for all of us who work in the world of paid media, recruitment, and paid advertising.
If they didn’t ask you because it was good for the agency, you took it out so you could demonstrate your knowledge of the subject. Yes, it is true that, in the past, and even now, having these certificates is not a guarantee of expert knowledge, but they are a good start.
And the new Skillshop methodology is different. Now the platform does not make it a formality, but rather teaches you (and sells) what Google Ads really is.
New structure of 3 blocks: Google Ads, Google Analytics and Google Marketing Platform
Google Ads (beginner level)

After this, it allows you to access the Google Analytics lessons where you will learn everything you need to obtain the certification. I’m telling you, it’s getting easier, because now you won’t get it looking here or there, but you’ll get it by learning. Great job by Google.
Google marketing platform (intermediate-advanced level)

As some of the resources have been updated since this very month of September, I would like to think that they have not yet had time to create content for this section. In this case, they show you the roadmap where everything points to the usual classic help pages. This is the model that most closely resembles what we already knew. It would be great news if they updated it as well.
Here you will find the certifications for the great marketing tools, which in the future (and I am guessing) will be the most important in the market. So don’t take your eyes off them.
In addition, Google is making great efforts to unite all its tools under the same umbrella of the “ Google marketing platform ”. This is mainly due to 2 reasons.
The first that gives coherence and improves the usability of the tools; have them all just a click away, without having to enter passwords over and over again.
And two, don’t let even a potential customer miss out on your future paid upgrades and upgrades. Moving to Analytics 360 will start to look more tempting now.
Google Ads: certifications of always, updated to now
This is the most interesting section for those of you who want to renew your certifications or get hold of these basic titles for the first time.
In the old days, you had to read Google ‘s help documentation to find anything you were unsure about, or use the live tool to remember the exact name of that extension: was it callout text or site excerpt? I always messed with those two.
Well, now the lessons for beginners are in Spanish, interactive, by modules and with a good rhythm, a good “flow” and a good way of doing things, so there are no more excuses to get 100% in the certifications.
Skillshop says goodbye to the 2 certifications: basic fundamentals + another
In the past, we had to obtain the first certification of basic advertising fundamentals and then a specialty among which were: search, display, shopping, video, and mobile.
Not now. Now you will find that it is only necessary to obtain a certification, giving much more importance to specialization in each area.
And I won’t get tired of recommending the tutorials that, even if you are familiar with the tool, are very good. It is true that they can be a bit basic if you already have years of experience, but it is a refreshment that is not bad at all. And the treatment of the audience is sublime.
Exits the “mobile” field and enters “measurement”
Another novelty is the disappearance of mobile marketing certification. The certainty that more than 60% of current traffic is mobile (statistics from Google’s own tutorials) have made this device present in the rest of the certifications. For this reason, it was not coherent to leave the “mobile marketing” specialty.
Of course, they have created a new certification called ” Google ads measurement “. This section contains very interesting modules to learn how to optimize and measure more safely. This was something necessary and, with this new certification, they give it the importance that it lacked before. Yes, it is true that, in addition to talking about measurement, this certification is a bit of a “disaster drawer”, including sections on “Google My Business” and “Google Marketing Platform”.
In fact, Google is making numerous changes to the look of the Google My Business section. It is trying to be another channel of interaction with users, with more detailed information, new ways of communication, featured publications and even external links to companies that are dedicated to the same as yours. All through a system of sections called “cards”.
There is also a section for the older sister and a great bet for the future, the great Google Marketing Platform. A platform that brings together many of the analytical and work tools of digital marketing: analytics, tag manager, optimize, survey and the old doubleclick, search ads 360, and display & video ads 360.
What will happen to the old certifications?
Well, like everything in life: they are born, grow, reproduce and die. The Google AdWords certifications , and the already obsolete mobile one, are in the tool until they expire, but they take on a taciturn color that does not herald anything good.
And in fact, in Skillshop the old certifications don’t even appear in the “certifications” section, but instead appear in the “more” option and with a different symbol. The new certifications appear with a very cool band and the old ones in the form of a medal.

The importance of hearings
What they have done very didactic and have given great importance to in each of the new certifications is the issue of audiences.
Now, all certifications have their audience section, where they explain when to use each of them according to your marketing objectives. So there is no longer an excuse not to use them, because it is true that they are increasingly sharpening the shot and have a greater volume of public than in the past, being able to impact a greater number of people.
In addition, the explanations of the lessons are very intuitive and clear, both on how audiences are formed and on the different target audiences.
Conversion funnel and goals
And the other detail that is beautifully explained (from my point of view) is the subject of marketing objectives: Awareness, Consideration and Action. Never before have they been so explicit and neatly categorized each ad format, audience and bid type for each objective. Now the conversion funnel is clearer than ever, which is helpful for advertisers and for the platform itself.
But, before there weren’t more study sections and certifications?
Yes, before, on the main page of Google Academy, the different educational sections of many of the Google properties and tools appeared. Now, in Skillshop only these three mentioned above appear, but because they are the only ones in Spanish.
Everything has its trick. If you change the language you will have the incredible world of Google in your hands, or rather, in your minds, eager for knowledge and knowledge.

Note: another little trick. If you change the language to “Latin Spanish”, you will be able to find a fourth section, that of YouTube, which is not yet in Spanish from Spain.

All these changes that they have made and the ones that look like they are coming, make the renewed Skillshop platform get all the praise it can. And seeing all the tools that they have designed in English, it is not surprising that the platform in Spanish is increasing over the weeks.
